Customer Reviews — [1] Rating: 4 Date: 2008-10-19 Summary: fun! but short! ... if you like dynasty warriors you'll like this game! this is a button smasher game but sort of solving puzzle game, the background is beautiful and the gameplay is fun! you upgrade weapons, gain expereince points, etc. but what its lacking is its length and at times it can get repetitive since you have to go back to the same levels. it took me about 2 days to beat this game, and i would not play it all day i would play maybe 5 hours in those 2 days! it was really short but if you can handle that then get genji. ...more
[2] Rating: 4 Date: 2008-11-20 Summary: Great game, but 1 glaring flaw ... I was ready to give this game the highest rating, but it has one glaring flaw that I just can't ignore. And that flaw is its length. Up until I finished the game, I was completely baffled by the mediocre scores it received from the media. There are a couple of things that make Genji a very unique game: 1- It's extremely well presented. It's obvious that a great deal of polish and care were put into the games presentation- from the menus, to the sound design, to the architecture of the buildings... all top quality. ...more
[3] Rating: 4 Date: 2008-06-12 Summary: Great slashing game with a bit more to offer ... Genji takes the standard slashing game formula and adds to it with special "Kumai" attacks. In these special attacks, the player can slow time to unleash devistating counter attacks against enemies. The game is fun, with intuitive play control and wonderful graphics. Some of the bosses are inordinately difficult in comparison to the standard enemies. The game is also short though, and left me wanting a longer scenario. After beating the game, some extra challenges are unlocked. The extra challenges are not spectacular ...more

Customer Reviews — [1] Rating: 5 Date: 2008-03-29 Summary: Rivals all Survival/Horror I've played ... I never would've heard of this game if not for Amazon's suggestions, and was dumbfounded when I got it, played it, and realized I'd never heard nor read about this game before. It's at the top of my list of Survival/Horror games and I cannot recommend it enough. I played it several times through upon initially receiving it and I await to play it again. The graphics are some of the best I've seen on PS2. They put a lot of time into the graphics and storyline. They do seem to borrow quite a bit from the Fatal Frame series ...more
[2] Rating: 5 Date: 2007-02-02 Summary: A real tresure ... In the days when we are all thinking about the fact that everything will be PS3 soon, it's good to know that there are still some largely unrecognized PS2 titles that are seriously worthwhile. Are there some minor problems? Sure. But, hey, if you're a fan of Silent Hill-type games, please give this a try. If you're an old-timer like me, I'm sure you won't be dissappointed. O.K. Perhaps the characters mouths don't move in the movies. I didn't find this a terrible problem. But, more to the point, I found it to be quite ...more

Did you know the following facts about PS2?

The device was poorly received, with some major features absent from the first revisions of the hardware, and has thus far experienced very weak sales in Japan, in spite of major price drops [5].

Another major selling point over the Dreamcast was the PlayStation 2's ability to play DVDs, which gained it a presence in electronics stores which did not formerly sell video game consoles.

Many analysts predicted a close 3-way matchup between the PS2 and its soon-to-be-released competitors Microsoft Xbox and Nintendo GameCube, noting that the PS2's graphics were inferior but that it had the advantage of a head start, and had a wide assortment of games of every genre (Xbox's strength was in its hardware; GameCube was the cheapest of the 3 consoles).

It is backwards compatible with older PlayStation (PS1) games, allows for DVD Video playback, and will play PS2 games off of cheap CD-ROMs or higher-capacity DVD-ROMs.

Not only did Sony roll out the PS2 online adapter in late 2002 to compete with Microsoft, several online launch games were first party titles such as SOCOM US Navy SEALS in order to show that Sony was supporting this feature actively.

A silver edition is available in the United Kingdom exclusively.

Yet, the PS2 initially sold well solely on the basis of the strength of the PlayStation brand and its backwards compatibility, selling over 900,000 units in the first weekend in Japan.

Available in November 2004, it is smaller and thinner than the old version and includes a built-in Ethernet port.

One of them includes the old EE and GS chips, and the other contains the newer unified EE+GS chip, otherwise being identical.

The PS2 launch seemed unimpressive and gaffe-prone, compared to the well-planned launch of the Sega Dreamcast, which was making a genuine attempt to woo developers and which had better launch titles.

These included a PCMCIA slot instead of the Expansion Bay (DEV9) port of newer models.

V3 has a substantially different internal structure from the subsequent revisions, featuring several interconnected printed circuit boards.

With a price of $299.99 per console, Sony made gross sales of roughly $153,000,000.
