NHL Hitz 2003
Customer Reviews — [1] Rating: 5 Date: 2003-08-02 Summary: I was really surprised :) ... Im a big fan of hockey.....and I loved this game, everyone so far has given it big numbers and they arent wrong....my ONLY fault with the game is that there are only 5 players on the ice (including the goalie) there should be 6....but other than that I love it. I especially like the mardi gras heads you can add to your player to make them look all crazy and you can adjust the players size and face and even sex? (either this game is sorta Politically correct or women will soon be joining the NHL hehe) I liked the nicknames ...more
[2] Rating: 5 Date: 2006-04-04 Summary: Awesome ... NHL 2003 has really hit the spot here. This shows in the helmets falling off (my 2nd favorite part). My favorite thing is smashing people through the glass. I like how they have set up the franchise mode. This game is a must have! ...more
[3] Rating: 5 Date: 2008-01-08 Summary: Best hockey game ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1 ... I am not a fan of sports games, most get boring really quickly, but this isn't like it. This was the first game I bought when I got my PS2, I was worth it. You get to play as pirates, clowns, alligators, sharks, and other cool creatures. Plus, there are tons of awsome mini-games. Before you start a match, you can choose to rain or snow in the rink. Have you seen any other hockey game that lets you choose that? Plus you can creat a team to play on a regular game, or on season. The bset part in the whole game is to smash ...more
[4] Rating: 4 Date: 2003-09-18 Summary: Great ... Even though the Ea a sports games are more real the animation and fun are a lot higher quality in the Midway games. ...more

Features real 5-on-5 gameplay with real NHL rosters -- complete with real formations, franchise mode, improved animations and even better arenas and crowd reactions; Crush your opponents or send them flying into the glass -- realistic graphics will make you feel every hit and scrape; Change the rules of hockey for more interesting gameplay -- refs will look the other way as players are slashed, pull off two-line pass, or go offsides; Players can even take over the camera on replays and zoom or rotate, to get the perfect angle on their game-winning shot; The incredible online tournament feature gives players a chance at handing out the smackdown against other players from around the world ...more
Customer Reviews — [1] Rating: 5 Date: 2004-06-13 Summary: And a good time was had by all... ... After playing EASports NHL 2003 on my brother-in-law's Game Cube, I knew I had to get a hockey game for the ole' PS2. This was the newest version of any title at the electronics emporium (the next most recent was NHL 2002), so it's what I nabbed. The graphics don't seem quite as sharp as the EA game (no sleeve numbers on the jerseys, for example) but the PS2 controller is easier to use (at least to me), the action seems a little quicker and after just an hour of play, I checked a Russkie right through the glass - major ...more
[2] Rating: 5 Date: 2004-07-18 Summary: AWESOME!!! ... THIS IS THE BEST HOCKEY GAME I HAVE EVER PLAYED SAME WITH MY FRIENDS ...more
Editorial Reviews — ... Product Description | With NHL Hitz Pro, you'll have all the fun and excitement of a real NHL game, and then some! Great game commentary brings the hockey action to life for you!...more

NHL Hitz 2002
Customer Reviews — [1] Rating: 5 Date: 2002-09-04 Summary: Go Avalanche!!! ... Quite simply, this is one of the best games I've ever encountered in my twenty-plus years of gaming. I've never liked sports games before, but from the moment I started this game I was hooked. I've always loved hocky, but found that most games were either too dull, too complicated or just didn't have the graphics that make this game light up the way it does on the Game Cube or any other platform. If you don't own this game, buy it! ...more
[2] Rating: 4 Date: 2003-08-28 Summary: I wish the Caps didn't suck ... This game is pretty cool and it was the first PS2 game I got it has its flaws the graphics look pretty good but the players faces look stupid I haven't played subsequent titles but they look fun I'll probably get NHL Hitz Pro and if the Caps knew how to play I'd be great to bad my favorite team sucks lol LETS GO CAPS ...more
[3] Rating: 5 Date: 2008-03-23 Summary: The most fun I've had for under 10 bucks ... I bought this used on a friend's recommendation. I've played it with friends for the past few years. It's always a blast. Excellent gameplay. Never gets old. The disc finally started failing so I bought the 2003 and the All Pro version thinking they'd be better. They're not. They're both slow and clunky. Gameplay is extremely sluggish. Last night we picked up another used version of Hitz 2002. It rocks! ...more
[4] Rating: 5 Date: 2002-08-29 Summary: AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ... Buy it right now,it is one of my favorite games you can body check people, and you can get in fights and bust combos when you fight the only bad thing is it's a little hard but not really so BY IT RIGHT NOW!!!!!!!!!!!! ...more

Did you know the following facts about PS2?

Yet, the PS2 initially sold well solely on the basis of the strength of the PlayStation brand and its backwards compatibility, selling over 900,000 units in the first weekend in Japan.

V5 introduces minor internal changes and the only difference between V6 (sometimes called V5.1) and V5 is the orientation of the Power/Reset switch board connector, which was reversed to prevent the use of no-solder modchips.

PS2's opening day console sales eclipsed the previous record of 225,000 made by the Sega Dreamcast in 1999.

Only a few million users had obtained consoles by the end of 2000 due to manufacturing delays.

After an apparent manufacturing issue caused some initial slowdown in producing the new unit, Sony reportedly underestimated demand, caused in part by shortages between the time the old units were cleared out and the new units were ready.

When the PlayStation 2 launched in Japan in March 2000, Sony sold 980,000 units over the opening weekend.

Hardware sales remained strong until 2004 saw the console apparently approaching saturation point.

Available in November 2004, it is smaller and thinner than the old version and includes a built-in Ethernet port.

Many analysts predicted a close 3-way matchup between the PS2 and its soon-to-be-released competitors Microsoft Xbox and Nintendo GameCube, noting that the PS2's graphics were inferior but that it had the advantage of a head start, and had a wide assortment of games of every genre (Xbox's strength was in its hardware; GameCube was the cheapest of the 3 consoles).

One of them includes the old EE and GS chips, and the other contains the newer unified EE+GS chip, otherwise being identical.

The PS2 launch seemed unimpressive and gaffe-prone, compared to the well-planned launch of the Sega Dreamcast, which was making a genuine attempt to woo developers and which had better launch titles.

These included a PCMCIA slot instead of the Expansion Bay (DEV9) port of newer models.

V3 has a substantially different internal structure from the subsequent revisions, featuring several interconnected printed circuit boards.

With a price of $299.99 per console, Sony made gross sales of roughly $153,000,000.
