Customer Reviews — [1] Rating: 4 Date: 2008-08-04 Summary: The most addictive fighting game, EVER!! ... ARC here, I first became aware of Soul Calibur when it was an arcade game (under a different name) years ago. The fighting game was like Mortal Kombat but with weapons such as swords, ninchunk etc. This game was addictive too. Now, I found out about it (the PS2 game) through renting it at the Library. I was hooked. I ordered it used here on Amazon. The characters are well designed (and hotties: the young men on these game R cut!!) and unique to the fighting scene. There also is a multitute of unlockable characters, ...more
[2] Rating: 4 Date: 2008-08-12 Summary: not as awesome as 2 caliber 3 ... Soul Caliber 3 was step in a new direction they made significant changes to the parry system and added some awesome new features. Character creation, an awesome idea that fit perfectly into the game. with a wide variety of weapon classes, you could honestly fight like a unique character. The only thing I didn't like was it felt like they were very limited on your armor selection they characters looked almost fake compared to the original cast. They stepped up the adventure, with a unique story where you could use your ...more
[3] Rating: 4 Date: 2008-08-11 Summary: A fantastic, repetitive game! ... Having played and loved Soul Calibur II, I was definitely excited for SCIII. The new characters looked so cool and I couldn't wait to play them. Customization was brand new to me and I had fun creating whatever I thought of. Unfortunately, it just got a bit repetitive. Each character had a very similar story and I felt like I was doing the same thing over and over again. Although fun, it didn't offer anything exciting and no one seemed to play it, either. But then I realized how good the music was. I would play just ...more
[4] Rating: 5 Date: 2008-12-06 Summary: one of the best fighting games ever! no scratch that.. one of the best GAMES ever! ... the fights are fast pace and fun. you can create your OWN fighter if the default characters arnt good enough for you, graphics are really good. and there is ALOT of unlockables and extras such as "Tales of Souls" and "Chronicles of the Sword" in Tales of Souls you can select a character and go on a Choose your own adventure type thing. in Chronicles of the Sword you can use your created characters to go on a pretty fun adventure. its like a RTS/RPG/Fighting game you can level up your characters to become stronger it ...more

Customer Reviews — [1] Rating: 5 Date: 2008-08-27 Summary: excellent game ... This the best game that I have. I play this game every day for a few hours. I have other games but this is the one that I truely love. I just purchased a home entertainment system the other day and that makes it all the better. I also have soul calibur III but I don't like it as much as soul calibur II. This is a beautiful game. ...more
[2] Rating: 4 Date: 2006-11-29 Summary: Worth Your While ... I played Soul Calibur 3 before playing Soul Calibur 2. There's not much difference between the two games other than the fact that SCIII has more features and extras. The graphics on the newer game is also slightly, not noticeably, superior to the older game. I admit buying Soul Calibur only upon learning that KOS-MOS from Xenosaga makes a cameo appearance in SC3. You can use the Character Creation Mode in the third game to build a fighter that looks just like KOS-MOS. Eventually, I got addicted to Soul Calibur. Both ...more
[3] Rating: 5 Date: 2007-09-02 Summary: The Soul series continues to redefine the fighting game genre ... Now in its third incarnation, Namco's Soul series of fighting games continues to set new standards for the genre. Soul Calibur II, while not making as dramatic a leap in visuals and technology as seen between the first two games, is still holding its place as the definitive 3D fighter. Sega's Virtua Fighter 4 offers some solid competition, but Calibur's implementation of weapons combat and plethora of gameplay modes gives it the edge. Each of the Soul games has originated in the arcades, and every time they're ported ...more
[4] Rating: 5 Date: 2008-06-03 Summary: soul darkness come on to me ... This is a fun game, the graphics is great, the gameplay, the characters, and stages. I remember i was playing my friends in this game 3 years ago it was real fun, so this is a great game. ...more
[5] Rating: 5 Date: 2007-05-05 Summary: Soul Calibur II ... This game is the best game I've played in my life. I rate the graphics 8/10, but the game has a great cast of characters, and thier action-packed stories as well. The game is definetly better than SC3, because it seemed to have more effort put into it. The music is amazing. The best tunes are Eternal Struggle(Cervantes), Brave sword braver soul(Taki), and Raise Thy Sword(Heihachi). I strongly reccomend this game to anyone who's played Tekken, or any other action-packed game.Tekken 4 ...more

Did you know the following facts about PS2?

Currently, most people just use V12 for both models, or V12 for the old model and V13 for the newer one.

These included a PCMCIA slot instead of the Expansion Bay (DEV9) port of newer models.

Later, Sony gained steam with new development kits for game developers and more PlayStations for consumers.

PS2's opening day console sales eclipsed the previous record of 225,000 made by the Sega Dreamcast in 1999.

There is also now a V14 model (SCPH-75001) which contains an integrated EE and GS (disputed - see talk page) , and different ASICs compared to previous revisions, some chips having a copyright date of 2005 compared to 2000,2001 for earlier models.

There are also some disputes on the numbering for this PS2 version, since there are actually two sub-versions of the SCPH-70000.

The PlayStation 2 holds the record of fastest selling video game console ever, 100 million PlayStation 2 units were shipped in only five years and nine months, shattering the previous record of nine years and six months by the PlayStation.

In September of that year, in time for the launch of Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas (the best-selling game during the 2004 Holiday season), Sony revealed a new, smaller PS2 (see Hardware revisions).

In preparation for the launch of a new, slimmer PlayStation 2 model (SCPH-70000), Sony had stopped making the older PS2 model (SCPH-5000x) sometime during the summer of 2004 to let the distribution channel empty out stock of the units.

PS2's opening day console sales eclipsed the previous record of 225,000 made by the Sega Dreamcast in 1999.

There are also some disputes on the numbering for this PS2 version, since there are actually two sub-versions of the SCPH-70000.

To this day, the PS2 holds the record for the most consoles sold in a single day as well as the record for most consoles sold in launch day in America.
